Plagiarism Policy

Table of Contents

The Bangladesh Journal of Forest Science (BJFS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and originality in published research. Plagiarism, in any form, is considered a serious violation of ethical publishing practices. This Plagiarism Policy outlines the steps we take to prevent and address plagiarism within our journal.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism involves the use of another person’s work, ideas, or intellectual property without proper attribution or permission, and presenting it as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Copying text, sentences, or passages from another source without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing content from a source without appropriate attribution.
  • Reusing figures, tables, graphs, or images without permission and citation.
  • Submitting someone else’s work under your own name.

Editorial Measures Against Plagiarism

  1. Plagiarism Detection Software: All submitted manuscripts undergo thorough plagiarism checks using reputable plagiarism detection software. Similarity reports are reviewed by the editorial team to identify instances of potential plagiarism.
  2. Reviewer Assessment: Reviewers are instructed to be vigilant in identifying and reporting any indications of plagiarism during their review process.

Actions Against Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process:

  • Minor Plagiarism: In cases of minor plagiarism or improper attribution, authors will be asked to revise the affected portions of their manuscript, and a correction notice will be added to the published article.
  • Major Plagiarism: Manuscripts with substantial plagiarism will be rejected. Authors may also be barred from submitting to BJFS in the future.
  • Confirmed Plagiarism: If plagiarism is confirmed after publication, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be issued. The author(s) will be notified, and the relevant academic institutions may be informed.

Self-Plagiarism (Duplicate Submission)

Authors are also cautioned against self-plagiarism, which involves reusing significant portions of their own previously published work without proper citation. Authors must clearly indicate any instances of self-referencing and provide appropriate citations.

Prevention and Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and properly cited. Proper attribution of sources is vital to maintaining academic integrity. By submitting their work to BJFS, authors affirm that their manuscripts are free from plagiarism.
